My name is Carlos Pla and I am an architect and artist, based in South Manchester, England, and have been surrounded by art and architecture since I was a child.
From a very young age, art and architecture have been an essential part of my life. After obtaining my degree in architecture, I began a professional career dedicated to the design of buildings and spaces designed for living, learning and working. Over the years, I have combined this work with my artistic vocation, using my creative skills to develop and communicate architectural projects for clients and companies. I have always been fascinated by how spaces affect us, how art can touch something deep without the need for words. My career in architecture has taught me to build solid structures; my artistic side, to let go and explore. I paint, photograph, experiment with materials and textures to capture fragments of life, cities, memories.
My work is inspired by urban landscapes and the people who inhabit them. My works are often a dialogue between the concrete and the intangible.
I am interested in exploring the relationship between space and distance, colour and light, texture and atmosphere. Atmospheres that insinuate themselves between intersecting shapes and colours that vibrate in space. I play with visual planes, chromatic regions and geometric shapes that cross, overlap or oppose each other, moving between order and chaos.
